The 2nd Annual Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit & Exhibition (GIPEX)

October 31st, 2019 – Georgetown, Guyana – The second annual conference taking place November 20-22 in Georgetown is cited to be the event of 2019 for the oil industry in Guyana.

Hosted by Guyana’s Department of Energy (DoE), Go-Invest and Valiant Business Media, the event will take place over 3 days at the Marriot hotel in Georgetown. Over 600 delegates are cited to be attending this year, including executives and investors from major international corporations. Over 200 companies will be present at the event, both international and local. Guyanese-owned and run organizations have received subsidized registration rates, to encourage local participation at the event.

In 2018, five joint ventures were formed in the first two days of the conference.

Mark Bynoe, head of the DoE, stated; “This is [an exciting] time as we continue to seek foreign direct investment opportunities and further economic growth of the county. GIPEX remains the marquee event for the oil and gas sector, in terms of […] establishing partnerships, alliances, associations and joint ventures.”

Despite controversy over the involvement of a UK-based company in organizing the event, GIPEX claims that the 2019 conference will an opportunistic event where Guyanese companies can network with international organizations and investors as equals, all meeting to discuss the future of Guyana’s oil and gas industry as the country approaches first oil.

Says Lars Mangal, CEO of TOTALTEC, “GIPEX has become the premier annual event for the Guyana oil industry, where international and local companies can come together to further Guyana’s development as an oil-producing nation. The DoE, Go-Invest and the government must ensure that events such as GIPEX continue to focus on developing local people, partnerships and infrastructure.”

With recent global interest in Guyana, and corporate sponsorship by ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, Total, Hess, CNOC, Saipem, Tullow Oil, Petronas, InterOil Guyana, Baker Hughes, TechnipFMC and others, the conference is expected to be well attended.
